    Of Cars and Facebook

    Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

So, I washed and waxed my car this weekend. Looks very nice.

If you haven’t heard of Eddie Izzard, you’ve gotta see him. He’s a transvestite comedian at night, and during the day he does the FX show The Riches. I like it, and not just because Izzard’s in it. It’s fairly interesting.

I finally decided to look at Facebook. It’s kinda retarded. You have to be in a network to find people, and you have to be in the same network as all the rest of your friends. It’s annoying. So, In order to have any of my friends on there, I have to be a classmate of OHS and a network in Burlington, VT. Where I don’t live but who cares.

Oh, and Solarfest now has a Forum. I’m a halfway active member on there.

    See you guys later

    Beamer Chronicles?

    Saturday, February 24th, 2007

I’ve been driving to and from Duke for my job 3 nights a week. And what never fades to amaze me is how BMW owners act on the road. It frustrates me soo much, I could kill them. So I was thinking: Why not make a blog about them? I could call it The Beamer Chronicles, and it could be drivers of any of the big, expensive cars. Whadda ya think?

    Why Mac is awesome

    Little apps like Disco:
It's Burning!     It’s a CD burning app that smokes when you’re burnin’. It also responds to mouse movements as if it were smoke and you were moving your hand over the smoke: it moves. It’s such a neat app. For those of you who’ve actually heard of this before, I’ve not had a machine that could handle the smoke effects until now ;-)
Now for a bit of information about the site. I’ve put up these google ads so I can get some moola (hopefully). So click those darn links, search over there on the left, and download firefox via the link all the way at the bottom of the page. Also, we are now running on WordPress 2.1. It’s pretty cool.
Also, a quick random link: Twitter. Tell the world what your currently doing. Check out the bottom of the sidebar to get an example of what I’m doing right now

    Well…

I got it :-) Proud owner of a Macbook Pro. Very happy. Now i’ve gotta get accessories for it like a screen protector and maybe protector for where the wrists go.
1/26/07 5:30 PM: It now has 2 gigs of RAM. Parallels now runs BEAUTIFULLY

Funniest Conversation in a Long While

    Monday, January 1st, 2007

Ok so me and my Grandpa were playing ping-pong last night, having a grand ol’ time. I started to say random animals when I messed up. Grandpa meant to say ‘skunks’ but instead he said ‘monks’. He corrected himself and then continued on saying that he saw a lot of them skittering around at night.
And I couldn’t help myself, “What? Monks or skunks?” “Take your pick” he replied. We burst out laughing and thus couldn’t continue playing. We went upstairs, still laughing like madmen, and watched the DaVinci Code, which had monks. So that was a nice round…thing
You might’ve had to be there, but it was pretty hysterical. Ah well, Happy New Year!

    One Dropped iBook Later…

    Sunday, December 24th, 2006

Well someone had a little accident with his computer on the 21st: I kinda dropped my poor, defensless little iBook. I went to pick up my laptop bag and someone *coughmecough* forgot to zip up the laptop compartment. So everything fell out in a wonderful display of stupidity.
It was working fine until I tried to plug the VGA in; it did the blue between changing resolutions and never came out of it. Poor thing. And it seems that all the fiddling we did made the hard drive controllers die or something along that line. Can’t find a hard drive in the OS X install CD or anywhere else. So I decided:
TIME TO GET A MACBOOK PRO!!!!! That was my intention for most of my money anyway, but it looks like I may be able to get it a little earlier than I thought. Very exciting.
But for now I’m stuck with just a PC. I’m actually coping pretty well. I have most of the stuff working (email, newsfeeds, aim, iTunes), just not with that Mac touch. Besides iTunes, which is of course a mac program. I even got my ipod to behave with a lil app called MacDrive. Very nice.
So for Christmas I hope I get mostly money, cause I’m gonna need it; for both my car and for this little slice of heaven…
                                         Merry X-Mas Everyone

    Howdy

    Saturday, December 16th, 2006

Well, cars are a fun thing. Check engine light went on when I was driving home one night from work (at Duke), turns out there’s a vacuum leak somewhere. Today, the mechanic couldn’t find it. It’s idling not-so-happily; in addition, part of the exhaust manifold needs to be replaced, and we can’t find that leak either. Fun Fun. Got a Christmas tree today; I know pretty late, eh? It’s a tiny lil’ thing.
In other news, Guster is an awesome band. I went on a small hiatus in the way of music for a few months a while ago, and came out of it after getting some of the Guster albums. I’ve had some of their stuff for a while, but to grab all of the albums was awesome. Of course, coming out of the hiatus means that all the other songs in my library, all 1400 tracks of it, are still kinda stale. So, Guster is all i’ve been listening to it. That, and most things punk-ish. I drove home to The Bots-Electronic Paradise. I played that incredibly loudly and just rocked out. Too much fun with that poor car. At least the radio works, otherwise I would probably break down…
Sometimes I find some of my biggest fears by encountering them. I found one to be people I know getting in car crashes, and worse, dying…Please everyone drive careful; I wasn’t very close to Mark, but if it was someone close, god…I’d be gone

    Goodnight
Take ‘em away, take ‘em away, Lord
Take away these chains from me
My heart is broken ‘cause my spirit’s not free
Lord take away these chains from me …

    Goodbye Mark Scott…

    Friday, November 24th, 2006

Well Thanksgiving is over and christmas is looming. Black Friday, don’t cha know? I’ve had an Xmas list up for a while, but for those who haven’t seen the link, look on the left over there where it says Xmas and click on it. or you could just click here. :-)

    New Site

    Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

New site design, still making it behave universally (stupid template somehow stops the entries from being shortened and the whole continued reading thing).

A template i’ve wanted to do for a long while now, based on a theme from the CSS Zen Garden.

Now if only it would be happier…I’ll deal with it when I can find some time. Until then, live with pages that freak out like anything besides the homepage….
Added 12:00 AM: Or view the source code….
Added 12:02 AM: God that old theme was hideous…
November 16th 6:45 PM: It’s beautiful now (I hope throughout the entire site)!
