Behold, for as i right this it is January 5th, 9:40 pm and yet your seeing this posted at 11:37. Behold the power!!

So, i wanted to write this cause the blog software i use (wordpress) has a nightly build, and this is running THE JANUARY 6TH BUILD. It makes me soooo happy i’m leaving it like this unless theres a 2.1 release or i see bugs i can’t handle.

You may be wondering why this is so important that i use the January 6th build…

……..It’s my birthday…..hehe

And i’ve gotten wordpress to finally behave, my one peeve is since i’m using a redirect from frayedwires to blog.frayedwires, wordpress pretends your logged out and “have” to log in, when if you go to the comments it will say your logged in as your name. Strange. But i’ll bear with it if you will.

Well, 2.0 is still being a little grumpy for me. I’ve had to unistall and reinstall multiple times, and found that if i change my password everything suddenly fails. So, i ain’t changing my password.
I don’t know if any of you will be able to login and comment, but i’ll see if it’s working after i finish writing this.

So, after a long period of mucking about, wordpress finally released version 2.0. And with that started a long roller coaster of an upgrade process.
the main blog (frayedwires.com) absolutely hated the upgrade. Permissions went all wrong and stuff failed to work. So I had to figure out what i was gonna do to make it work again. I though, “let’s install wordpress on another directory.” my config file got messed up, but after an hour i figured out what to do to fix it. So now i had to get my posts back. After a few minutes of struggling with the databases, i took only the ones i needed and got blog.frayedwires.com up and running
So here we are, over the day i’ll get everything back to how it looked on frayedwires. And frayedwires.com will be redirected to blog.frayedwires.com. At least i got my comments, posts, and users here and working (you should be able to log in and comment, though i’m not sure whats wrong with your login haley). By the time you read this the site may look just like it did on frayedwires.com, and you’ll wonder what changed if any. Well, we are running on 2.0

A lil bit of site news for ya, a long (protected) post a little later (remeber: if you want to see it you need the password, email)
     I’ve decided to let you guys in on the frayedwires gallery, gallery.frayedwires.com now redirects to the FrayedWires: Gallery. It unfortunatly doesn’t look like the rest of the site. Ah well, life goes on
     Another thing is I might switch us to wordpress 2 RC 1 after I write this post. I give no promises. The other thing is still waiting for images from the other nathan. by the way, i’m hoping he doesnt base the image fully on the theme, i want to play with some other themes. I really want to mess with some stylesheets, and if anyone’s willing to create some designs using css contact me. If someone would also be willing to show me some good web design books, workshops, etc, tell me.

I really wanna change my myspace layout, can someone help me?

Tommarow you guys are moving to WordPress 2 RC1. I’ve seen no problem, and i’m using multiple RC1 programs now, so why not? 1.5.2 is a little long in the tooth, and not as sleek and pretty as wp2. Why not? How many read this anyway? and how many care if it’s down for a few hours if i break it?

ooOOOHHH Even better! We’ll switch when we get th new icons. (we’ll see, i may get overly anxious to switch)

I just saw on a flickr picture that shows the new ipods don’t support firewire.
WHAT? Apple has just shot themselves in the foot if you ask me. They’ve just dropped THEIR OWN technology for something SLOWER. It’s utterly ridiculous. And I bet a quick firmware update from them would allow firewire, but the question is: will they? This has just gotten me jumping mad, can’t stand it

Moving on, There have been alot of posts recently. Check them out, don’t just read this one. There are fun ones and geeky ones alike. Next up, if the tech teacher can get an OK on it, me and Alex from the linux class may be making sites for some of the teachers at OHS. He thought that the one I made him was so good we could make some money by charging the others for it. He paid me, which I was totally unprepared for and thought he was crazy since i built that page out of sheer boredom. But all-in-all, turned out pretty good.

And in other news, if you want to be powered by WordPress, the blog sofware I use, and don’t have a server or know how to do it, then sign up for WordPress.com. It actually is a pretty nice admin interface, and a bunch of plugins and themes, all user created. It’s also extremly customizable, look at this page for example

and the web server seems to be slow. God, sometimes i wish i were back on the mindspring servers

OOPS! I forgot about post 200 being supposedly special. I blew it on the Blue Ball Machine. Ah well, life goes on.

This will be the 200 post, the one that really matters. Now i’ve been playing with with this site for a while, and have a couple beta projects that i’ve been working on. I suppose i could release them to the public:

• Gallery: A place to FINALLY put some pictures. You may remember my constant frustrations with it before, now i can do it the way i’ve always wanted to. with it
• Wiki: Wiki’s are actually really cool; they allow anyone to add something to a page, and create their own pages. So go over their now and play around with it.(a not to the geekier of us: it doesn’t really use standard html, so look at the bottom for quick how-to’s on doing things)
